Artist Statement

I like the challenge of taking interesting but imperfect found objects and using them as a starting place for my work. In order to explore the secrets inherent in the found object’s form, I will start with a Hi Res scan, print it onto fine art paper, and then mount it onto a drawing board. Typically, I work by continuously turning the drawing board; this offers me an ever changing perspective on the evolving image. Usually, when the work tells me it is completed, its top and bottom are obvious. However, in the case of "Spin the Bottle", I realized that by presenting it in a way which allows the viewer an opportunity to re-enact this particular working process; that it corresponded nicely with my memory of the childhood game of the same name.
