Artist Statement

Layers of patterns from nature and architecture are my inspiration. Each tells a story of a particular time. The aim is to see the past and present all at once, as some are transparent reveal the construction.

The passage of time is expressed by the interlayer of shapes. Instead of experiencing time in a linear way, I look at time condensed and compressed like a double exposure photograph where one picture is developed on top of an earlier one. It's as if one is looking through peeled back layers to revealing other stages of development. The end result is an object existing in real space with multiple moments appearing at once.

The end result allows multiple moments to appear at once. I respect the process of discovery and beauty of the materials as my work continues to parallel my life.
