Artist Statement

Alice Eldridge Husak lives in Richmond, Virginia, though her pieces can be found in private and commercial collections throughout the country. She creates her unique glass pieces by painting in reverse, creating an image on the back of the glass piece that is viewed from the front. She also explores the aesthetic of motion in her two-dimensional works by mixing kinechromatic pigments with enamels, which reflect light and shift in color when viewed from different angles. "I am inspired by the philosophy of alchemy, the outcome of two things coming together to form something new. In my work, I experience this alchemic adventure through interactions of glass, color and light. I enjoy working backwards, looking forward and living in the present."
