Dennis Winston, a life member of Apha Phi Alpha Fraternity, has received many honors both locally and nationally as an artist and as an educator. He has been included in an educational multimedia series entitled, "African American Artists: Past and Present," and recently was included in the textbook publication "Below the Surface; Ethnic Echoes in America’s Modern and Contemporary Art". Winston’s work can be found in many private and public collections. A partial list of public collections include; The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the University of Virginia Medical Center, Capital One Corporation, Apex Museum of African American Art in Atlanta, Lynchburg College Museum, Indiana University Museum of Pennsylvania, University of Richmond Museum, and the Museum of African American Art of Dallas. During 2019, his work was included in the Virginia Museum’s ArtMobile on the Road, featured in an article in the International Review of African-African American Art, and was included in two international juried traveling exhibitions scheduled to travel in several museums in India and China. He received the Award of Distinction for printmaking for the 2019 Virginia Artists Juried Exhibition held at the C.H.Taylor Art Center in Hampton, Virginia. |
