After graduating with degrees in Philosophy and Library Science, Alice Anne Ellis pursued her art education at the Univeristy of Dundee, and in Richmond, after moving here from Scotland in 1990. She uses acrylic, ink and other media, and her artwork reflects her interest in the natural world. She has shown in numerous group and juried exhibitions in Scotland and Virginia, and she has had three recent solo shows in Richmond. This piece is one of her "River Bed" series, inspired by canoing on the James River.
