ABOUT THE JUROR
JAMES STROUD is a painter and printmaker whose interest in printmaking began in undergraduate school and continued afterward when living in Paris to study with Stanley William Hayter at the renowned Atelier 17. Upon returning to the US, he completed his graduate studies at the Yale School of Art in 1984 and established Center Street Studio, a professional printmaking workshop that publishes print projects in etching, woodcut and monotype with established and emerging artists. He has printed and published hundreds of projects over the past 28 years with dozens of artists of national and international reputation.
He continues his own work in painting and printmaking in his studio in Milton, MA a few miles outside of Boston. His work has been exhibited here and abroad and is included in several public collections including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, the Hood Art Museum at Dartmouth College, the Harnett Museum of Art at the University of Richmond and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, Russia to name a few.
Galerie Mourlot in New York City currently represents him. His work can be viewed online at two websites: www.jamesstroudstudio.com and www.centerstreetstudio.com.
Stroud will jury and curate the artspace International Juried Printmaking and Photography Exhibition 2012.
ARTSPACE is a non-profit, member-run gallery, in existence since 1988. It has become an urban pioneer, moving to and improving "undiscovered" areas of Richmond. One of the most beautiful gallery spaces in Richmond and Virginia, artspace exhibits works by regional, national, and international artists.
