Artist Statement

Concrete and resin echo everyday building materials, connoting the impersonal business office or high-rise while also speaking to stability, strength and permanence. We can hold a small space in our hands, but only occupy it through our imagination.

Does solitude threaten separation, or does it offer safety, repose?

Artist Bio

An Alabama native, Leslie spent formative years in an artistic and polymathic family. After formal undergraduate studies in art and art education, she relocated to the DC area and began exhibiting at The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria's Old Town, attended The Corcoran's Georgetown campus for abstract drawing & painting courses, traveled to Provence, France to further study "colour" and plein air landscapes, and most importantly, she established a studio discipline while also working an administrative and graphic design day job.  

Leslie now resides in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, where she owned & operated a retail art supply store in Staunton for nearly nine years. You can find her artwork at galleries and outdoor art festivals regionally, and visit her classrooms at Stuart Hall School in Verona and Staunton, where she is the Visual Arts Instructor for Pre-K - 8 th grade students. Leslie and her writer husband, Robert, have two sons: a high school junior and a second grader.
