For the last 12 years or so, we have traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico, for January and February. The weather is superb there (unlike Richmond at that time of year) and perfect for plein air painting. We walk every morning with 10 or so dogs (the place we stay is also a dog rescue) up into the Benito Juarez Mountains, where I gather mental images for painting. My studio is a old dog pen, open air, shaded, protected... the perfect place for painting. I love the scenery, the light, the palette, all of which are reminiscent of the American Southwest. These paintings were mostly painted during the winter of 2020; a few a little earlier. Usually I leave the paintings in Oaxaca; 70% of the sale price goes to support the dog rescue effort (fomanimalrescue.org; Facebook: Friends of Megan Animal Rescue). This year I brought these home. All are framed; 70% of any sale (after Artspace’s commission) will go to same cause. All are available for viewing by appointment at my studio.
