Artist Statement
This exhibition includes works in fiber arts, mixed media, filmmaking, kinetic digital imaging, and music. These works are our individual and combined attempts to transcend the gap between noise and signal, message and static, creation and deconstruction, order and entropy. Many of these works include elements of fragmentation, fraying, fracturing, obscuring and revealing. Most of these pieces involve some form of compositing--in the sense meant by traditional graphic arts--of layering, sandwiching and blending diverse imagery and media. These are true collaborations in which one artist subjects his work to other artists' whims and wishes. They reveal both commonality and opposition of intentions. Unity comes from the three artists’ embrace of the meditative power of concentrating creative work on process rather than product.
