Artist Statement

This work is made by building layers of oil paint mixed with cold wax medium. The wax encourages a random surface that suggests an organic nature. Next I add structure to the composition so that the piece represents the duality of nature and man. I am trying to create work that that balances the effect of human choice with chance, futility, nature and other forces that we may not be able to control, understand or even recognize.
