Statement
Studio Two Three is home to over 100 members working across many disciplines; documentary photographers, filmmakers, university professors and administrators, authors, bookmakers, activists, printmakers, and more. We are professionals, amateurs, teachers and students. S23 is a place where Richmond is making its creative community, telling its stories, and building its future.
At Studio Two Three, ideas become projects, and individuals become catalysts for and participants in our creating and sharing the narratives of our community. In our communal workspaces, private studios, darkroom, digital lab, classes, internships, gatherings, speaking programs, film nights, parties, and casual talk, we become the people who make Richmond a dynamic, inventive city. S23 is an energizing incubator for the current generation and the next, keeping our creative class robust, supported, empowered and evolving.
Studio Two Three (S23) is a nonprofit organization located in Richmond's Scott's Addition, a neighborhood of creatives, makers, and artists as well as a vibrant array of craft breweries, distilleries, and restaurants. At Studio Two Three, our mission is to give people the space, tools and classes they need to find that thing they love and make it.
We feature studio facilities, co-making workspace, classes and workshops, community events, lectures, artist residency, and open doors. We provide community members with 24/7 access to presses, darkroom, digital lab, communal workspace, and individual studios and offices to support production, creative practice, and discourse.
