Artist Statement
Pareidolia is defined as a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (an image or a sound) wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists. In the many years I have been seeing and subsequently photographing these pareidolic images, I have collected a number of series, which will be presented as photos in a traditional and mixed media display. I want to get across the meta aspect in taking an ordinary thing, unintentional art, capturing it and reframing it for the viewer. It is an artist's rendering of photographic evidence of an image seen in someone else's gum.
