Richmond, VA – artspace is pleased to present our 2016 Members' Biennial Exhibition opening on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 7-10pm and continuing through Sunday, December 18, 2016. A Second Reception will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 7-10pm. Our collaborative fundraising project, artroulette, is currently on view in Plant Zero's Project Space Gallery next door. The artroulette Silent Auction closes at 9pm during the 2nd reception. A Closing Gallery talk for the Members' Biennial will be held Sunday, December 18 at 2pm. All events are Free and Open to the Public.
The artspace Members' Biennial Exhibition will be in the Main, Helena Davis, Frable and Suzanne Foley galleries. Works from 21 artspace artist members, in various media, will be displayed. artspace, now in its twenty-eighth year, is an artist-run gallery whose membership is comprised of artists from a variety of backgrounds including: educators, photographers, social workers, office managers, printers, pharmacists and career artists. Membership in the gallery helps connect artists at every stage of their career and the Biennial features a rich variety of their painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media works.
Artists featured in the Members' Biennial include: Judith Anderson, Julie Crowder, Santa Sergio De Haven, Elisabeth Flynn-Chapman, Kay Franz, Dana Frostick, Mary Anne Hensley, Catherine Johnson, Jere Kittle, Melanie Kluender, Lisa Lezell Levine, Lew Lott, Martin McFadden LRPS, Brigette Newberry, Annette Norman, Michael A. Pierce, Elaine Rogers, Rob Ryder, Linda Shields, Paul Terrell, and Kathleen Westkaemper.
The smallspace Gallery will feature "Art To Go," small works in all media by artspace Artists. Perfect for holiday gifts, all works in this exhibition are ready for immediate purchase and take home.
During the second reception on Friday, December 9, the Silent Auction for artroulette 2016 will conclude at 9pm. Auction winners may take their work home at that time or make arrangements for pick up. You do not have to be present to win. artroulette is an innovative fundraising exhibition hosted by artspace, that brings artists together in randomly assigned teams. Each team was tasked with creating collaborative works in any medium, displaying their pieces in Project Space Gallery, the halls of Plant Zero Art Center, from November 5 until December 9, 2016.
