Artist's Statement
The energy expressed in my current work grew from an opportunity to "draw from the dance" at Sunday morning rehearsals of Dogtown Dance Company in Richmond, Virginia. The work reflects the simultaneous focus and abandon needed to capture flashes of grace and nuance and deliberate force of movement. The "line" that evolved from hours of pulling pencil and charcoal over paper now spills over into the collages that have opened up to embrace a consideration of line and pattern in all their iterations.
