Nationally-recognized artist Colleen Phelon Hall presents "Finding La Muse" in our Main Gallery, featuring paintings, photographs and drawings from her time in residence at "La Muse," an artist retreat in Southwestern France. Hall was "immersed in this natural beauty, quiet and calm…" as a means to recharge her artistic motivation. Both a "wanderer and wonderer" with her collection of works, Hall searches for "untold tales" in the visual landscape she encounters. Earning her B.A. in Studio Art at the University of Richmond in 1991, Hall has received public art commissions at Fort Lee, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and VCU Health System. Exhibiting since 1995, Hall’s works are included in collections of entertainment figures such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Sylvester Stallone. Earning the 2009 "MUSE" Award from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Hall was also a featured speaker at the TEDxRVAWomen talk in 2013.
