Joseph Labate and Laura LaFave will present Under One Roof in the Helena Davis Gallery. Under One Roof is a collaboration of photographs by Labate and drawings by LaFave. Labate and LaFave note that, "Living together, the work is an investigation of who and where we are and of our relationship. For us this investigation reveals both mystery and joy." Joseph Labate's abstracted and textural photographs allusively depict natural elements, and Laura LaFave's drawings are formed by a series of layered and energetic linear elements. Presented in a diptych format, a natural energy and dynamic conversation emerges between these photographs and drawings. Joseph Labate teaches and is the Chair of Photography at the University of Arizona, School of Art. Both Labate and LaFave received their Master of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona. This is their first time exhibiting together at artspace Gallery, and this project has been made possible by donors to the College of Fine Arts Fund for Excellence, University of Arizona, Tucson.
