Lew Lott will show Cut, physically altered photographic images, in the Frable Gallery. Lott's process is to physically cut and merge two or more of his photographs to create a "visual fabric." In his work, the process is evident and the surface is important, like expressionistic brushstrokes on a canvas. He says that, "The images alternately mask each other interrupting the narrative... My interest is in the discourse woven by the interaction of surfaces." Lott's idea driven pieces are filled with serenely repetitive shapes or grid-like patterns that are at times both playful and scientific. Lew Lott received his B.F.A. in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. He exhibits his work in Virginia and is an artist member at artspace Gallery.
