About the Center ... The Montpelier Center for Arts & Education, built in 1929, is the last surviving public building in Hanover County constructed by funds raised solely from the local citizens to provide an education for their children. It was saved from demolition through private support and completely renovated from 1991-1998. Today this important landmark stands as a symbol of the community's tradition of caring. Long range planning envisions the Center as the focal point of an old-fashioned village green where families and neighbors can come together to enjoy many different pastimes.
Located in historic Montpelier just 30 minutes from downtown Richmond or an hour from Charlottesville, the Center is convenient to most of central Virginia. The Center encompasses a spacious atrium ballroom surrounded with triple hung windows, light-filled rooms with hardwood floors, modern conferencing facilities, rotating art exhibits and ongoing educational programs.
Facilities are available for corporate retreats, private parties, weddings/receptions and classes. The Center has room for elegant seated dinners, numerous smaller meetings, outdoor greens for tented gatherings and space for team building events. All of this is nestled in a pastoral setting away from the hectic distractions of city life.
