HENRIETTA NEAR / "Faces" Exhibition Statement
My photographic work has, for many years, centered on faces of
people and of animals. My camera instantly catches their innumerable and
changing expressions. I work to capture these expressions spontaneously
and with as little sense of "posing" as possible. I try to find unposed
facial expressions which will captivate the viewer's eye.

CATHERINE JOHNSON / "Faces" Exhibition Statement
I am fascinated by faces. Wherever I go a camera goes with me, whether it is
a point & shot, standard 35, or whatever camera appeals to me at the time.
I am not really out to exploit people, just fascinated with their
individuality when they don't think people are watching them.
